One of the things they don’t teach you in school (or anywhere else, really) is how to make business decisions. In fact, making business decisions that are profitable, sound, and spiritually rewarding is a skill that all small business owners should learn.
I’m happy to share with you my top three tips for how to make business decisions you won’t regret!
Three Tips For How To Make Business Decisions
Here’s a three minute video where I explain my top three tips for how to make business decisions that you can be proud of looking back.
How To Make Business Decisions Using Your Intuition
Intuition is crucial to running a business. Women tend to be more in touch with their intuitive side, but everyone has had an experience where listening to their gut really paid off.
As for me, I’ve listened to my gut instincts when making several business decisions. One of the first big scary decisions I made was to turn down a job offer right out of college.
I turned down that lucrative job offer to start my own business, and although people around me didn’t understand my choice… it has been reinforced and validated many times since then.
Listening to your intuition can take many forms: from feeling a dreadful feeling in your physical body when you think about that decision, to being unable to sleep.
If you feel excited and expansive energy, it’s probably a good move. If you feel sick or contracted, then I’d say no to that business decision you’re stuck on.
How To Make Business Decisions By Asking Your Coach
I am a huge fan of hiring and working with business coaches and mentors. There’s just something about working alongside a coach who understands you, your business, and where you’re going.
The benefit of asking for advice from a business coach is that you can get perspective. When you’re looking at your business, you’re pretty biased, and you’re a little too close to see all your options.
By asking a trusted mentor for their take on a situation, you can often fast track your decision making process, and your business growth.
How To Make Business Decisions With Pros & Cons List
The pros and cons list is a tried and true method for making business decisions, or any decisions in your life.
You simply take a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle. At the top of the page write what decision you’re considering. On one side write down a list of pros, and on the other a list of cons.
Weigh the two sides, taking in account not only the length of each but also the power of the items on the list. This is one way to make decisions from a place of business ease.
