Balancing Both Sides of the Brain

We keep hearing how important it is to use both sides of our brain… especially as we continue to create a new world of work and play. We’re not living in the old corporate factory model anymore, but how do we actually change our behavior to make it all work?

That’s exactly why I’m so excited to share my good friend Laura Hames Franklin with you today. She’s got a lot of body chemistry stuff figured out, and you’ll see in our interview below that she’s got some interesting insights on the brain, the future, and how we’re all part of it.

The most surprising fact? That Einstein’s success in coming up with so many revolutionary ideas might be linked to a more balanced brain… In fact, it wasn’t just balanced it was more connected.

Watch our interview below to find out more.

Beyond Balancing Both Sides Of The Brain

Laura is a wealth of information, and she’s also a master catalyst. She can transform any type of stuckage and help you get to that next level of possibility in your life.

It’s why I had her work with each of the ladies in my Daring Business Cultivator program, because I know that sometimes the stuff that holds us back isn’t the “how” but the inner barriers that we put up to protect ourselves.

It’s really hard for me to explain Laura’s work, but she’s got that twinkle in her eye that comes from all the dancing, dreaming, and life-shifting that happens on a daily basis in her life.

If you’re at all curious about working with Laura, check out her Wholly Shift program. I’m not an affiliate and I don’t get anything for promoting her work, I just believe that sometimes we “meet” people at just the right time for a reason. Laura is one of those people, and has been for me over the past year as my business has morphed into something more amazing than I thought possible.

Where Do You See Us All Going?

I’d love to hear your vision of our new world… leave a comment below and tell me what you want to see in the world, and how you’re working to create that in your part of it!

    Great video girls!

  2. Emily Sullivan on October 16, 2013 at 2:09 pm

Love it! So awesome to see both of you sharing this key with the business world! We as women have so much to share with the world and making new realities possible and balanced brains are definitely a key to that.

    Thanks Nathalie and Laura!

    • Nathalie Lussier on October 16, 2013 at 2:21 pm

Yay thanks for your comment Emily! I know you get the power of this work, and thank you for standing for it alongside us! You’re a shining light. :)

      • Laura Hames Franklin on October 17, 2013 at 11:43 am

Thank you Emily! Yes totally Nathalie. YOU are such a star and thank you for all the insights and connection you catalyze for me!

Loved this video! I am such a believer in the importance of spirituality in business, and love how Laura makes spirituality accessible through her intuition (right brain) + logic (left brain) approach. So key to envisioning your dream business and then creating it!!

    • Nathalie Lussier on October 17, 2013 at 7:37 am

Yay Michela! Thank you so much for your comment, and yes – I believe that business is the most powerful personal development environment. It really gets us to grow, as we grow our business, and to move through our “stuff”, too!

      • Laura Hames Franklin on October 17, 2013 at 11:45 am

Totally Nath. YOU are the most important factor in your business and your brain is the CEO :)

  4. Sarah McKay on October 16, 2013 at 10:09 pm

Hi ladies – I’m a long time reader, rare commenter. I’m a neuroscientist, science writer & write a brain health blog.
I blogged about the right vs left brain way of thinking a couple of weeks back. It’s a neat, appealing idea that intuitively seems to make sense, but the science doesn’t back it up.

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Everyone has talents, and everyone has skills they need to develop. Recognise and foster your talents. Set goals and develop new skills. Just don’t attribute ‘whole brain’, global functions or personality to one side of the brain or other.

The brain is way more complex (and interesting) than that!

    • Nathalie Lussier on October 17, 2013 at 9:41 am

Thanks so much for chiming in on this Sarah! It’s so interesting that we as human beings tend to oversimplify and try to abstract super complex things like the brain. I see it a lot with food too (breaking down a whole food into specific nutrients, etc) and we forget that the “whole” is really what we’re going for!

I’m definitely of the opinion that using your whole brain is best, and having it work in concert together makes sense to me, too. :)

    • Laura Hames Franklin on October 17, 2013 at 11:54 am

Thanks Sarah and yes, you are absolutely right. We know very little about the brain and how it actually functions. And this 10 minute interview was a glimmer of how things connect… There’s so much more!

I’d love to know once you do the ‘brain balancing exercise’ that I share if you can FEEL more whole-brain feeling and balance.

      • Sarah McKay on October 23, 2013 at 1:59 pm

        I’ll give it a go!

  5. Liz Brazier on October 17, 2013 at 10:19 pm

Great video. It really is a unique time in our world. Thanks for sharing. Laura you are magical!

  6. Nathalie Lussier on October 17, 2013 at 11:28 pm

    Thank you Liz!

This was so interesting! I *loved* learning that Einstein was great at balancing the two sides – no surprise at all, given how happy he always looked.

    Thanks, both!
