Business Ideas Worth Stealing: How to Test Your Business Ideas

Have you ever had business ideas worth stealing?

How do you know an idea is really good? If it’s worth stealing, naturally.

Since starting The Raw Foods Witch I’ve had my share of ideas worth stealing… I’ve seen a few “healthy witch” web sites, and although I’m not the genius behind the raw foods witch name (thanks Robin!) it was funny to see the idea catch on so much.

The reason I bring this up is that we’ve all got ideas. Maybe you have some business ideas jotted down on a notepad but you’re not sure which one is worth pursuing.

Or maybe you’ve had a genius business idea, but didn’t know how to get the business momentum going… then you found out that someone else had the same idea and they got to market first. Ouch, that sucks.

The question is: how do you know if your idea is an idea worth stealing?

Business Ideas Worth Stealing?

Business ideas worth stealing are those that can differentiate you from competitors, get you all fired up to take action, and make that idea a profitable business.

There’s no lack of ideas out there, but you need to be able to differentiate between “good business ideas” and business ideas worth stealing.

The only way to judge an idea is to test it out

You can get the gears in your brain turning as much as you want, analyze every idea, and make pros and cons lists until the cows come home. But until you actually take your idea and put it in a real world scenario, you’ve got nothing.

Business is all about evolution and iteration. Your first idea may not be the winner, but you’ll never know until you put it out there and gauge the reaction you get from potential clients.

If you’re not sure what kind of business you want to start, talking to a life coach about it might help. But it’s not going to give you the answers you’re looking for, you are the only one who can find those, and action is the only means through which that can happen.

How you can test your ideas in a safe environment

This is the internet era, and you don’t need to lease a brick and mortar shop, hire a bunch of employees, and manufacture thousands of dollars worth of products to test an idea out.

You just need a web site. Heck, you could even get away with a Facebook or Twitter account to get a little feedback.

The simple fact is that with a web site, you can track how people respond… whether they raise their hand to find out more about your future products or services, or whether they move onto the next site.

Don’t let an idea die in your mind (or evaporate out of the shower) before putting it out there for the world to respond to.

Actions cannot be stolen

If you think you’ve got that idea worth stealing, don’t be afraid to put it out there for others to see. Whether they steal it or not doesn’t matter. The reality is that ideas aren’t the precious commodity, it’s the actions you take based on an idea that are valuable.

Let them steal your good ideas. By putting them out there and letting your business ideas take shape in the real world you are actually far ahead of the crowds.

Pick the idea you’re the most excited about, and get it going

I’d love for you to share your business ideas here, but the truth is that the idea isn’t what will make your business a success or a failure.

So instead I’d love for you to tell me what you’re doing to make some progress on these ideas you’ve got hatching inside you.
