Business Book Reviews

I’ve been a book worm since my first brush with mystery fiction for teens. I could spend hours at the library looking for new and exciting books, or just sitting between the bookshelves letting my imagination run wild.

These days I still consider myself a book room (hey, reading is sexy!) but I also let my imagination play with business books. I get so many ideas, tweaks, and action items from thinking through business books.

That’s why I’m officially kicking off my business book reviews section today. I’ve been reading over 52 books per year since I graduated college. The stats say college grads stop reading after college, but for me graduating finally gave me time to read what I wanted to read again.

What books are on your list?

I want to know what books have made an impact on your life and business. Leave a comment below and let me know what books you’d like me to review, or books you recommend.

Uncertainty by Jonathan Fields and The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Gold!

  3. You are a mind reader!

I was just thinking about a list of recomended biz books I saved on my Evernote… Your post put me in action and I’m checking which ones can I get from the library!

I’ll love to hear your recomendations!

Those stats are ALARMING! I’m impressed that you read more than a book a week. I think a book a week should be my goal this year. Right now I am re-reading The Big Leap and HIGHLY recommend it for everyone — business owners, moms, 9-5′ers, even teenagers. It’s a book I think we should have as mandatory reading in our high schools.

  5. Someone beat me to suggesting War of Art. :)

One book that gets ignored a lot is Overachievement by John Eliot. This book is a fabulous look into the mindset of the achiever and how to become one.

  6. Want to review my kids book on simple steps for people big and small to optimize their morning routine?

I’d love to send you one!

@livingsimple Yes the stats woke me up a little! And yes, I absolutely LOVE The Big Leap. I think I need to re-read it every few months, especially as quickly as things are always shifting and changing. :)

@PursuitOfFocus Ooh Overachievement is a new one, I’m putting it on my list. That’s awesome, thanks!

Oh Nath! I love this and couldn’t agree more!

I just started to really get into reading like 6 months ago and man has the wheels been turning since!I would HIGHLY suggest “Overcoming Underearning” By Barbra Stanny to EVERY WOMAN out there!!!Seriously that book changed my life and am proud to say I WILL be making 6 figures this year because of this incredible book!

  14. BrandiHarrigan says:

@NathLussier @heatherlyone I’m reading Uncertainty now, but I’m always reading like five books at once… so it’s Uncertainty, Seeing in the Dark-Claiming your power now and in the coming age, David Copperfield, Colette Baron-Reid’s The Map, and Digging into WordPress (the new updated version).

Love reading in the bathtub! Some of the best business-related books I’ve read in the past year are “Switch” and “Made to Stick” by the Heath Brothers, and Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why”. I’m on the lookout for my next one so any suggestions would be great!

Hi Nath, I would love you to read my book.
I have just finished writing it and yes, as you said, it’s true when you read a book it’s as though you’re gaining 20 years experience from the author.
25+ years ago I got to the root of my overeating problem and permanently resolved it. Now, 25 years later, I decided to write about it because I still see people struggling, dieting and obsessing.
And I know if we just focused on the real issue (root of the problem) it can be overcome permanently. It’s called “Help! I Can’t Stop Eating”  www.helpicantstopeating.com
It will be out in a few weeks. Hope you can read it!
    Thanks Lana
